We help the right stories reach the right agents, faster.

QuerySort is built for literary agents — so the best-fit submissions are always easy to find.

Why we built QuerySort

Why we built QuerySort

Literary agents are highly skilled at identifying strong work. The challenge isn't recognizing a good submission — it's how long it takes to reach it. Agents can receive hundreds or even thousands of queries each week, and 95% of those submissions won’t be a fit for their list.

That means a significant amount of an agents’ time is spent scanning, filtering, and moving through low-alignment queries before reaching the ones that are a fit. At scale, this becomes exhausting and difficult to sustain alongside the full demands of client work.

QuerySort was built in response to this — not to automate decisions, but to reduce the structural friction that makes query review such a time-intensive process.

Finding the best-fit queries should be simple

The queries written for your list are already in your inbox. Getting to them shouldn't require you to read everything else first.

Agents review submissions, always

The decision to request, represent, or pass on a manuscript is yours. QuerySort organizes your inbox — it doesn't weigh in on your editorial instincts, and it never will.

Fits the way you already work

Your workflow exists for good reasons. QuerySort fits around it — same inbox, same process, no new tools to learn.

Clarity over complexity

Agents already have enough to manage. QuerySort should feel like relief, not another thing to learn. If it adds friction, we've built it wrong.

Why QuerySort matters

Great books shape culture, spark imagination, and stay with us long after we finish the final page.

At the heart of publishing is the discovery of those stories and the agents who champion them. In a high-volume submission landscape, that work requires time, focus, and careful attention.

QuerySort exists to support that process. Not by changing how agents evaluate stories — but by creating a clearer, more focused way to navigate submissions, so the right work can surface sooner, writers can be discovered more easily, and great stories can move into the world and into the hands of readers.

How it started

The idea for QuerySort was born at a writers’ event.

As a querying writer herself, Brooke knew firsthand what it felt like to wait. Months of silence, wondering whether no response meant "not right for me" or simply "not seen yet."

During a writers’ event, a literary agent shared what the experience was like from the other side: opening for six weeks and received thousands of queries. Feeling guilty at the time it was taking to reply to each one.

Inbox overwhelm was painful for writers and agents.

And it was something Brooke felt technology could help solve.

Founded by two women with twenty years’ combined experience in software, QuerySort is shaped by close experience with the querying process; created with technical expertise and a deep respect for the publishing industry.

Human judgement stays human.

A note on AI, because it matters in publishing.

We don’t believe AI belongs in creative work. But we do believe it can play a valuable role in the administrative work around it — easing the burden on literary agents, helping them find the human stories they’re looking for faster, and helping writers get responses sooner.

QuerySort uses assistive AI for one specific job: comparing an agent’s wishlist with the information writers provide in their queries.

It doesn’t read manuscripts, assess writing quality, reject writers or make representation decisions. It simply organizes queries, so agents can make human decisions faster.
